What’s up? We will continue to provide content, but we promise our blogs will be much shorter so you can go out and do exactly what you want to do. We still want to give you some productive insight into the world of Recognizing Education And Learning because you can never (and should never) stop growing and improving.
We all want things in life, whether it be a peace of mind or that private jet. Regardless of what we want, there are times when we simply must work for what we want. Let’s keep it REAL, as much as we would all like to just chill while money comes into our account, we know that’s just not the case… at least not yet. We have to work. We have to get up and yes, earn what we want. Eventually, we can chill and enjoy the fruits of our labor, but labor comes first. That’s just the way life works. We can think of this as unfair, but here are some reasons why it actually is fair and more importantly, why it’s worth it.

Think about when you’re given something for Christmas, for example. We all know how this goes… we absolutely love and appreciate the gift for the first few months after Christmas. Let’s keep it REAL, after the thrill of the holiday season is over (let’s say around April), we start to get less and less excited about the gift we received. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, but we all know that we don’t have the same excitement for gifts that are given to us after a while. The gift begins to lose its value as time goes on. Again, there’s nothing wrong with this, it’s just our human nature. We embrace things that are given to us initially, but tend to sometimes take for granted what’s given to us. Why do we do this? We believe that since the gift was given and there was no work to obtain it, we don’t appreciate it as much as if we earned it.
Now, let’s think about graduating from school. Let’s keep it REAL, there are few better feelings than graduation day. It’s either the day when students finally feel like they accomplished their dream of being done with school (or at least that chapter of school) or it’s the day when students finally feel free from the mundane lifestyle that school can sometimes offer. Either way, it’s a celebration. A celebration that requires family members in attendance, a ceremony that can sometimes last half the day and a special cap and gown that indicates success. It’s a magical time if you ask us. But why is this accomplishment celebrated with so much enthusiasm? It’s because we earned it! As a student, school holds you accountable to passing your classes and meeting all of your graduation requirements. School is a place that requires a certain amount of effort that indicates someone is prepared for the next step in life, whether that is more school or life in the REAL world.

It’s the fact that we earned the degree that leads to a massive celebration at the end. Let’s keep it REAL, whether we enjoy school or not, we all feel that sense of joy and accomplishment when we are fortunate enough to walk the stage, receive our diploma and turn our tassel. The point here is that things that are earned are more appreciated. The hard work becomes worth it on graduation day. There are few better feelings than that feeling of accomplishment after you’ve achieved something that took hard work. We use graduation as an example because there are few things in life that we have to work so hard for and it takes so long to achieve. That’s why the celebration is so important.
We can (and should) use this same logic in all areas of our life. Embrace hard work because earning something means more than when it’s simply given to us. There’s so much beauty in accomplishment. Being given things is nice, but we just don’t have the same level of appreciation, which means that whatever was given might not mean as much to us. The point of this blog was to open our eyes (if they’re not open already) to the beauty of hard work and why earning something is much more worth it than being given something. We want you to embrace earning things because we want you to feel that feeling of success and accomplishment, which is only felt after hard work.
Thank you for checking in with us and we hope you use this time to earn the things you want in life. Embrace the journey of hard work and realize that it will pay off. It’s inevitable. Hard work always produces results.
Keep it REAL.
