Thanks for checking in! We want to share with you the importance of building your network. We’ve mentioned this briefly in our REAL Habits 4 Success blog under “Research and Reach Out”, but we wanted to go a bit more in-depth about the importance of building your network, especially during these important next few months! We believe that building your network is valuable because this helps you meet people that can support your development as a student and professional. We encourage you to connect with your peers and other individuals who can help you become the best version of yourself and accomplish your goals.
Let’s begin by sharing how connecting with your peers can positively advance your knowledge and experience as a student. First, connecting with your peers can provide a sense of belonging. When networking with your peers, you can relate to their experiences which can help you develop resilience in knowing you are not alone. Second, building a relationship with your peers can provide you with new opportunities to learn more and gain more experience. In other words, these relationships can lead you to meet new people who have the experience and wisdom (think about the Knight) to support your progress as a student. These relationships can also provide new information you probably weren’t aware of that can advance your understanding of a particular subject.

Besides connecting with your peers, you can connect with more experienced individuals as well. This can lead to you finding a mentor who embraces your ability and willingness to succeed. Networking with an individual who can support you in this way can accelerate your knowledge and career path. Your relationship with them can also help you gain hands-on experience. The point here is that networking with experienced individuals can guide you toward the path of prosperity. This path can introduce you to internships, job opportunities or simply more people who can advise you on how to further your education to get what you need.

Overall, we encourage you to build a supportive group that accepts who you are, challenges your abilities, and has your best interests. We also want you to be wise and aware of the people you connect with. Your network is like a web of resources that allow you to gain access to even more resources, and the right people will lead you to the right resources for success. As always, thank you for sharing your time with us and we hope this was simply a reminder to take advantage of your time to build your network!
Keep it REAL.
