What’s up! We appreciate you checking in on us, especially with the word, “Homework” in the title. We must have your attention at this point because most people do whatever they can to stay away from homework. We get it, but it’s a part of life. Let’s keep it REAL, most of us think of homework as a waste of time, but it’s really the only thing that helps us prepare for the next steps. There are a couple of different styles of homework… the homework that prepares you for the test or the homework that helps you complete a long project or assignment. In life, there are similar homework styles that help us in life. Let’s discuss.

Most of us educators and students have school 5 days a week for most of our day. Then, we might also have homework on the weekend. School has a funny way of taking up our time, whether we want it to or not. Let’s keep it REAL, we all have to go to school, which means we all have to do homework at some point. Instead of dreading the inevitable, why not embrace it? Most of us have homework that will take an hour or two, but we hate to give up our time away from school to complete school work. If you don’t have any motivation to complete your school work outside of school, here’s an idea… Give Yourself More Time. The sooner you can get the inevitable done, the sooner you’ll get to enjoy your free time after school. The longer it takes to start, the longer it’ll take to get done. You’ll Thank Yourself Later instead of working later or suffering the consequences of not completing your work… later.
School is a necessary part of life because of the opportunities it provides and the network you can build for what you want to do. Any good parent, mentor, etc. will tell you the typical, “go to school” and “do your homework”, but we’ve all let that go in one ear and out the other at some point in our life. We get it; but again, it’s a necessary priority that you can use to your benefit in life. We’ve heard people say, “I don’t know why I’m in school; I’ll never use this stuff.” That might be true about some content you learn, but that’s far from the truth when it comes to the habits you’ll build. Life is a lot like school. Think about it, every day is a new day (test) that you have to prepare for (homework) or you’ll fail. Life’s failure is not associated with death… it’s associated with existence. We define L.I.F.E as Learning Is Full Existence. Let’s keep it REAL, every day we are alive we are tested, whether physically, emotionally, spiritually or mentally and it’s our job to embrace the learning experiences that come with life and use those experiences to our advantage for the next time. Life has a funny way of testing us on the same topic, experience, etc. until we pass the test. If you haven’t already, check out Studying for Life’s Tests to fully understand what we mean when we say every day is a test we can study for. That’s essentially what wisdom is, which is one of our Core Values. Let’s keep it REAL, we all know those people who have become stagnant in life simply because they won’t learn from their mistakes. We don’t want this to be you!
We want you to succeed in school and in life. REAL Success is only accomplished through learning from mistakes and applying what you’ve learned to the next situation. The more you are able to do this, the more likely that your dreams will become REAL. Embrace what scares you, be uncomfortable to grow, learn from your mistakes and watch how life starts to develop in your favor. Once you understand the value of education and learning, it’s time to share your experiences and perspective with the next generation. That is how you will truly be significant in this life! Keep going, keep growing.
Keep it REAL.
