What’s up? Thank you for stopping by to see what we’re up to. We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year, so it’s always important to reflect on what you’ve accomplished this past year. Did you achieve the goals you set out to achieve at the beginning of the year? If so, how does it feel? If not, how close are you (because there is still some time left)? And finally, what goals do you have for the upcoming year and how do you plan on accomplishing them? If you need some help, try the “Brick by Brick” strategy.
We like examples to make things more relatable. Let’s keep it REAL, whether you want it or not, we are sure most of you reading this wouldn’t mind living in a mansion, so that’s let’s say that’s the goal: to live in a brick mansion one day. Let’s imagine that you had everything you needed to build it. All you need to do is build it. Easy right? Doubtful, but using the Brick by Brick strategy might be helpful. This strategy simply involves focusing your attention on laying down one brick at a time as perfectly as possible each day. That’s it.

Each brick represents a day. If you do your best each day to move closer to your goal, then that’s a successful day. Then, you wake up and do the same thing tomorrow. If you keep this habit up for a long period of time, you’ll look back and, before you know it, you’ve made progress toward building your mansion. The idea here is to remain consistent and keep your focus on the ultimate goal. This strategy is also meant to help ease the stress of this seemingly daunting task. Building a mansion sounds like a lot, but laying down a brick as perfectly as possible seems more realistic and doable.
We know we’ve already discussed The Secret before, but just to reiterate, having a positive mindset on a consistent basis is also only achieved after time and patience. Every day is a new opportunity to embrace positivity, regardless of the situation or circumstance, and it takes focus each day before this becomes second nature. We highly recommend, not only The Secret, but taking the practice of a positive mindset and perspective one day at a time. If it doesn’t feel like second nature yet, just enjoy the process of constantly reminding yourself to be positive and before you know it, you’ll wake up one day and it will be a natural habit whenever a negative issue arises.

Another great story that helps us understand this “Brick by Brick” mentality is Will by Will Smith. In his book, Will Smith details a story that taught him one of the most important lessons he ever learned in his life. Without giving too much away, when Will and his brother were young, their father ordered them to build a structure out of bricks. The instructions were to lay down one brick at a time as perfectly as possible and to not worry or focus on the end result. The structure would end up taking them an extremely long time, but the lesson would last a lifetime. After the structure was built, Will and his brother realized the importance of hard work on a consistent basis, which will eventually lead to success, regardless of how long it takes.
In closing, the key takeaway here is to remain consistent and positive on a consistent basis, and eventually, you will achieve whatever your ultimate goal is. To reiterate another message from Will Smith’s father, you’ll either complete the mission or you’ll die. This message can help us think about each brick as the task necessary to build the mansion, which is the ultimate mission (goal). Instead of spending your time worrying about how large the mansion is and how much work it will take to build, focus on laying down your one brick perfectly until the next opportunity to lay another brick presents itself.
Keep it REAL.
