My name is Francesca Lesisko, and I am a Dominican American. My parents are honest and hardworking individuals who immigrated here from the Dominican Republic in their youth. I have always been a studious individual and participated in a few clubs at Louis E. Dieruff High School. One of my greatest accomplishments was graduating top of my class and being the vice president of the national honor society. In addition, I was a youth leader at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Allentown, PA. During my summers, I worked as a playground instructor for the City of Allentown, which ignited my passion for working with young people. After high school, I ventured off to DeSales University where I obtained my Bachelors of Art in Theology. I am the first in my family to graduate with a college degree in the United States.
I am currently a third-year graduate student in Kutztown University’s Master of Science in School Counseling (Licensure Track) program. I completed my practicum experience at Allentown School District’s (ASD) Newcomer Academy, and now currently serve ASD as an intern at Louis E. Dieruff High School. It is a great honor for me to be able to give back to my community. In addition, I am currently a graduate assistant at Kutztown University’s Multicultural Center. I oversee the Grant Access Program, which allows me to serve both Reading High School and Kutztown University.
Within the next few months, my goal is to obtain a position as a school counselor. After graduation (May 2022), I hope to pass the National Counselor Exam. Overall, I hope to to utilize my counseling skills, empathy, enthusiasm, professionalism, and solid academic knowledge to serve my future students and their families.
