Shane Maxey has always possessed a warm, jovial, and welcoming personality. Shane developed a passion for learning in 4th grade when he encountered phenomenal teachers, Mrs. Mary Kate Grzelak and Mrs. Samantha Glickman at Campus International K-8 School. Campus International is a K-8 school within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District that prepares students to be global citizens by emphasizing student inquiry and a global perspective. CIS is located on the campus of Cleveland State University and benefits from a unique, nationally-recognized partnership with the university. Shane thrived academically and athletically during his time at Campus International K-8. Shane participated with Soccer and Track from grades 6 – 8.
Shane is currently in the 11 grade at Campus International High School. From 9th grade to 11th grade Shane has participated with the Soccer, Track and the Boys Basketball teams all while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of a 3.74. Currently, Shane is ranked #5 out of 114 students in his graduating Class of 2023. During his high school years Shane has received Honor Roll and Outstanding Citizenship awards. Shane has held summer employment as a Program Assistant at Cleveland State University’s Math Corps Program (summer, 2021).
Shane plans to attend a Historically Black College & University in the Fall of 2023. He is still exploring major course of study options. Shane’s mother is an HBCU graduate (Central State University) so she hopes he will attend her Alma Mater. Shane is a resilient young man who is determined to succeed in life and be a positive and productive citizen.
