Edison Yunior

I was born in the Dominican Republic, where I spent the first seven years of my life. My mother and I were the last in the family to immigrate over to the US, and I’ve been living in Allentown, PA since. Growing up, I developed a love for music. I listened to a lot of old-school and modern hip-hop, as well as some R&B. Through music, J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar, two hip-hop artists became my biggest role models. The determination and inspiration they shared through their music fueled me to chase my dreams through whatever obstacle.

I’m currently a student at Penn State Lehigh Valley as a Computer Science major. Currently, I’m involved in a research study that accesses the topic of academic procrastination to assist and guide students struggling with procrastination. I’ve also started the computer science club at my school. I started the club to help others who are interested in computer programming, but don’t know where to begin. I’ve acquired a group of 10-12 students, and we’re working on developing a website that can provide information on the current/future weather forecast. Apart from being a full-time student, I also work a part-time job.

In the future, I’d like to be a software engineer for a tech company. I want to work on building applications/websites that not only make challenging tasks easier but also give some sort of benefit to others. Being a software engineer is a broad term and there are countless areas that I could specialize in. As of right now, I’m not exactly sure where that would be, but a goal of mine is to assist in the development of medical applications/equipment. Nevertheless, I’m letting time work its magic. I’m always open to exploring different areas of study and would like to continue to find different areas of interests.

Thank you so much for this opportunity!
