I was born in Oklahoma City, where I lived for half my childhood until I moved to Los Angeles at the age of ten. Growing up I was surrounded by an entire family of humble and hardworking people. Which only projected onto the way I carried my life and the challenges it holds. Living in an environment where my mother earned her masters as a materials engineer, and my sister who’s currently finishing her masters as a chemist, it only pushed me to move past my limits as a person. My entire childhood was dominated by sports, from football and soccer, to what eventually would become my main sport and focus for the foreseeable future, basketball. All the lessons and challenges that sport evokes carved my mentality and how to navigate through situations life would throw at me. Although I loved sports, my parents consistently emphasized the importance of an education, not allowing me to play without the grades we set out to reach. In high school, I participated in student government, eventually acting as senior class treasurer, performing various tasks around the campus to better student life and their experiences. As I started to dedicate more time into my basketball career, college coaches started to take notice of my play in which I was able to amass multiple Division 1 scholarships. Ultimately leading to my decision to move to the east coast, and attend Lehigh University.
Currently, I am attending Lehigh University as a rising senior with a Major in History and minor in Africana Studies. As a part of the Men’s basketball team, I find that my unique experience as a student-athlete has allowed me to mature and gain valuable skills that will prepare me for the responsibilities of adulthood. I am in the process of completing my thesis, which covers the relationship between parliament and monarchs in England in the 1600 and 1700’s. I have had an ongoing focus and interest on the WW2 era, taking many classes covering the topic.
In the future, I have many hopes and dreams, but what matters most is I chase each one without hesitation. I have aspirations of becoming a pro basketball player as I’ve been working toward that goal for the better part of a decade now. After my playing career is over, I hope to have an influence on the younger generation in a positive way. I want to be a history teacher for high schoolers, in the hopes of breaking the stigma of one-sided history, in giving young men and women better perspectives of the world around us than generations prior to them will have had. I also aspire to be a high level basketball coach, as I would love to stay around the game I grew up playing, giving other young men knowledge and wisdom of the game and life lessons that can be learned from it.
