As the co-founder of REAL, Laura is resilient to challenges and passionate about education. She was born in Newark, New Jersey and relocated to Pennsylvania at the young age of 8 years old for a chance to have better opportunities and a bright future. During her time growing up in Pennsylvania, Laura developed a strong appreciation for education and learning. She strived to achieve honor roll throughout her secondary education and had the same goal in mind for post-secondary. As a Hispanic first-generation student, college was a challenging opportunity for Laura. However, she strived to succeed and eventually graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a focus on Management in May 2019.
After graduating, Laura worked for a Human Resources department. From that experience, she enhanced her passion to help others. Laura was promoted three different times, where she unintentionally began to learn and work for the logistics department. She began to face hardships as she realized she was unable to fully support nor develop her passion in life. So, Laura decided to face her challenges as another opportunity to define her purpose and passion. After a few months of hard work, she returned to college for a Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education and graduated in May 2022. Laura defines her passion as helping underserved students take full advantage of their education. She aspires to uplift students by supporting their learning and development.
In the future, Laura aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in Education to positively change the educational system for students who are underrepresented and marginalized.
