I come from a low income inner city community in Toledo, Ohio. I never thought college, let alone, graduate school could be an option for me. My mother put me in rooms with people who’d eventually would help get me to where I am today as a 3rd year graduate student.

I’m a 3rd year graduate student in the Social Psychology program of The Ohio State University. My research largely applies social psychological theories and concepts to criminal justice contexts. I look at how the general public perceive the formerly incarcerated and how such perceptions can have underlying psychological mechanisms that lead to consequences based on stigma. I also have interest in looking at how and why certain groups of people are associated with crime and violence to begin with.

My future career goals are to be a Professor. I want to be a tenure track professor either in social psychology, criminal justice, or criminology. I want to be a social psychologist that also works in criminal justice based settings. I have a goal to help the formerly incarcerated turn their lives around using the research of social psychology in some way.
