As a first-generation student, my journey has been shaped by resilience, mentorship, and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mississippi State University, where I developed a passion for understanding people and supporting their growth and well-being. Throughout my academic journey, I have been fortunate to learn from mentors and educators who challenged me to believe in my abilities and encouraged me to pursue opportunities I may not have imagined for myself. Those experiences, along with the leadership and service roles I have held along the way, have shaped my commitment to showing up for others and creating community wherever I am.
Currently, I am completing my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with a health emphasis at The Ohio State University. My experiences at Ohio State have allowed me to grow as both a student and a leader through research, mentorship, and involvement in student organizations and service. I have had the opportunity to study topics related to stress, mindfulness, and health, while also developing skills in collaboration, communication, and supporting others in meaningful ways. Beyond academics, I have especially valued opportunities to connect with students, colleagues, and mentors, because those relationships have played such an important role in my growth and in shaping the kind of leader and professional I hope to be.
In the future, I hope to build a career centered on uplifting and empowering others, especially students from marginalized backgrounds who may not always see themselves reflected in positions of leadership, wellness, and success. One of my long-term goals is to open a multicultural wellness center focused on supporting and advancing marginalized students through mentorship, encouragement, and holistic care. This vision is deeply personal to me because, throughout much of my own academic development, I did not always have access to mentors or role models who looked like me and had achieved the kinds of goals I aspired to reach. Because of that, I want to be that person for others. I want students to see someone who reflects their identity, understands their experiences, and shows them that they, too, can achieve great things. More than anything, I hope to create spaces where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to believe that their goals are possible.
