Sterling Lucy-Williams

My name is Sterling Jevon Lucy-Willams jr, I’m 19 years old and I’m currently at Columbus state Community College, to achieve an associate in English. I am so gracious to have been given this award and being able to share a bit about me. Before I give you any insight into who I am, I want to say that Jesus Christ is my lord and savior and has influenced my life with every action I take. To him, be honor and glory.

When I was younger, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. School for me was hard and I didn’t understand things as quickly as the other students. I even would tell myself that I wasn’t smart enough to go to college. However, with the help of my mom, who read to me every night when I was little, and the many teachers throughout the years, they helped me realize that I can do anything I set my mind to. Because of this amazing support, very quickly I discovered how much I love to read and write. Which became my passion all these years later.

As of right now, I’ve been mostly doing my coursework and writing things on the side. Each English class I’m a part of has taught me something new that I can apply to my writing. Though I have not been a part of any internships yet, I’ve also taken time to read new books and take time to learn about the writing business as much as possible. One of my main goals is to be a successful author, and right now I’m in an era where I want to take in as much knowledge that I can so that with each short story or essay I write, is even better than the last one.

For my future, like I stated before, I would love to be an author. My goal is to make Christian novels, shorts stories and children’s books. As well as books that are psychological and even comedy. I want to be an author that is well known and respected in the community. Someone that inspires people that writing is fun and is something that can be an outlet to any situation or problems you’re facing. Also, I want to teach college courses as well. I figured that if I want to inspire people, I should be around people who want to learn and grow just like I do, and being an educator would give me a perfect opportunity to do that.
